Yay! You found a doula you love? But the price seems too high. Here are a few ideas to help you afford a doula.
Add Doula Services to your baby registry.
Check with insurance. Certain plans will reimburse for Doula Services.
Use your Flex Spending or Health Savings account.
Set up a payment plan with your doula.
Ask your doula for a customized package. Maybe omit a prenatal appointment from the package, etc.
Ask friends and family to contribute.
Use your tax refund
Barter goods or services. Do you clean houses, or do web design? Maybe make custom furniture? Whatever it may be, you can possibly find a doula that is willing to trade services.
Skip the non-essentials, such as a daily coffee run, to save money for services. Make coffee at home! I know I know… that can be asking a lot. But if hiring a doula is important to you, it may be worth it.
Sell things around your house that you no longer need. Bonus: less clutter!
